Donna Roberts

Web Developer/Communications Specialist

Donna is a Web content specialist with over 15 years of experience preparing readable, plain-language content for federal websites. She currently has primary responsibility for the Web content of the Emergency Response Division (ERD) of NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration. The ERD provides scientific expertise to the U.S. Coast Guard for responses to oil or chemical spills in coastal waters. The division also trains spill responders, supports spill drills and exercises, and produces guidance documents for responders. In her Web capacity, Donna works with ERD oceanographers, modelers, biologists, and chemists to generate new content; she designs page layouts, edits pages to improve readability, and revises content for Section 508 compliance.

In addition to her Web work, Donna supports other ERD projects, such as the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) project, which provides maps of the U.S. coastline that show the biological species, shoreline habitats, and human-use resources that could be vulnerable in the event of an oil spill. She ensures that the various formats of ESI maps and data are available to spill responders and coastal zone managers
