Liza Hernandez Cordero


Marine Biologist


Ana Liza Hernandez Cordero is an environmental scientist with a background in estuarine research to support monitoring and management of water quality and the protection of living resources. She supports NOAA’s Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP) and Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R). Liza designs and conducts Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA) for oil spills, waste sites, and vessel groundings in the SE region. She provides technical support for the assessments. She supports scaling of restoration compensation for the public and participates in negotiating settlements and agreements for habitat restoration. Additionally, she makes recommendations for aquatic ecological risk assessments and supports the integration of restoration and recovery into cleanup plans for hazardous waste sites.
